In Dakota Johnson’s family, a movie premiere must be just like another family get-together. After all, she’s the daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, as well as the granddaughter of Golden Globe winner Tippi Hedren.
However, it still has to be special when Griffith and Johnson’s only child, a 26-year-old actress who’s only been in the biz for six years, has such an event lined up. The former Miami Vice star and his Working Girl ex were on Dakota’s arm as she hit the red carpet Wednesday for the premiere of her comedy, How to Be Single, in NYC.
Griffith even shared several images of not only her daughter, but also Johnson. The former couple have a long history, including a six-month marriage in 1976 and a second union that lasted from 1989 to 1996.

“MG and DJ having a good ole laugh!! Enjoying Coqui’s success! #proudmommy #prouddaddy,” she captioned a shot of her and Johnson cracking each other up.

“My beautiful Dakota and Mama,” Griffith — herself the daughter of actress Tippi Hedren — gushed about another photo. “She comes on screen and there’s a breathless hush that comes over the audience. She is magnificent! Go see ‘How to be Single.’"

Under another snapshot from the red carpet, she wrote: ”@donjohnson and @dakotajohnson at her premier of How to be Single…. She’s amazing! The movie is so funny, you laugh, you cry! Don is a #veryprouddaddy and I am a very #proudmama.“
Just last week, Dakota explained that growing up watching her parents work in showbiz wasn’t always the easiest thing. She sometimes struggled while watching them on sets.

"I was around for a lot of it, and I would watch them,” she explained to Net-A-Porter's The Edit magazine. “There were also things I could see that I didn’t want to, like watch my parents have sex with other people. And there was a scene where my mom got slapped in the face. I lost my mind!"
After all, this family sticks together — although not necessarily when Dakota’s movie involves her, um, doing the deed.
