The Alt In Our Stars Podcast: Pete Wentz Talks New Fall Out Boy Album
We’ve already got you covered on all things pop, hip-hop and new music on the podcast front; now, the alternative music world gets some love, too.
Introducing the Alt In Our Stars — a new weekly podcast covering rock and alternative music. Expect musical guests big and small, guests who don’t play music but have interesting things to say about it, some charts talk, occasional witty banter, and sometimes, just plain old banter.
More from Billboard
For episode number one, we’ve started off with a musical guest on the “big” side — Fall Out Boy bassist-lyricist Pete Wentz. He stopped by Billboard’s New York office to chat with host Chris Payne about the band’s forthcoming 2015 album American Beauty/American Psycho, how the Ferguson protests inspired some of his lyrics and how the rock landscape has changed since Fall Out Boy broke out ten years ago.
Since getting back together in 2013, Fall Out Boy has collaborated with Elton John, Courtney Love and Big Sean; written songs that sound equally inspired by hip-hop and ’80s hair metal; and has already sampled Suzanne Vega’s “Tom’s Diner” for a song on the new album. Until American Beauty/American Psycho drops on Jan. 20, you’re just going to have to listen to Pete about what’s in store.
