Aly Michalka of Aly & AJ expecting first child

Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Aly & AJ singer Aly Michalka is going to be a mom.

The 34-year-old singer and actress is expecting her first child with her husband, filmmaker Stephen Ringer.

Michalka confirmed the news Wednesday on Instagram alongside photos from throughout her pregnancy.

"We found out the morning of our sold-out show at The Greek Theatre back in September," the star shared. "Our little one has been on stage with me across three states already and has even done some international traveling!"

"We're waiting to find out the gender cuz I've always loved a good surprise, but in the meantime we've been busy getting the nursery ready, meeting with my birth team, eating more protein than usual, going to Pilates, getting good sleep, and drinking lots of water," she said. "Somehow we've been able to still spend days in the studio writing music which hopefully finds its way into baby's soul."

"I'm so grateful for all the amazing women I've leaned on these past 6 months (you know who you are) it makes me hopeful about the goodness in the world," Michalka concluded her post.

Actress Ashley Tisdale and singer-songwriter Jewel were among those to congratulate Michalka in the comments.

"So happy for you," Tisdale wrote.

"So so happy for you!" Jewel said.

In an interview with People, Michalka said her pregnancy has been "really smooth sailing so far."

The singer also shared that she and her sister, AJ Michalka, are writing a new album, including a song that reflects on motherhood.

Michalka and AJ Michalka perform as the music duo Aly & AJ.

In addition, Michalka is known for playing Keely Teslow on the Disney Channel series Phil of the Future and for starring on Hellcats and iZombie.

She and Ringer married in 2015.
