As The View co-hosts reacted to the news of O.J. Simpson's death on Thursday, April 11, Alyssa Farah Griffin shared what her “only thought” is when controversial public figures like Simpson pass away.

Simpson’s family revealed the news of his death in a statement shared on X. Simpson, who was 76, died on April 10 following a battle with cancer. His children and grandchildren were with him at the time of his death, according to his family.

News of Simpson’s death prompted mixed reactions as many people voiced support for the families of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. The former NFL star, nicknamed "The Juice," was accused in the 1994 murders of his ex-wife and Goldman. While he was acquitted in the months-long criminal trial that followed, he was found liable in a wrongful death civil case that the families filed against him a few years later.

As The View's co-hosts confronted the news of Simpson’s death on Thursday’s episode, Sunny Hostin said that she, like many others, can remember exactly where she was at the time of the famous slow-moving police chase that Simpson and his white Bronco were part of in the hours before his arrest.

“I also remember feeling a great sense of injustice happened,” Hostin said of Simpson’s criminal trial, adding that it was “one of the reasons why I became a prosecutor.”

Hostin, who said she is “close” to Goldman’s sister, said that the “tragedy” for her was “the injustice” of Simpson’s acquittal.

Farah Griffin, 34, recalled that she was just 5 years old at the time.

“I remember watching it,” she said. "My parents had it on, wall to wall. It really was—it consumed so much of our public consciousness. I remember that and Princess Diana’s death are just, like, ingrained in me.”

Farah Griffin then revealed the thought that came to mind upon learning of Simpson’s death. “To me, when someone like this passes, really my only thought is, ‘I hope it gives some peace to the family of the victims.’”

While the victim's families won their civil case years ago, "that doesn’t make up for it,” Farah Griffin added. “So I hope that it helps them to find some peace.”
