Alyssa Milano: 'I had myself committed' to a mental institution
Alyssa Milano co-hosted The View today and opened up about struggling with a mental illness. Just yesterday, the actress and activist wrote an article in Time about her struggles with anxiety after having her son, Milo.

Now the mom is going even deeper and talking about being hospitalized. “I had myself committed; I actually went to a mental institution.” She went on to explain why she took that action. “I felt like I couldn’t do it on my own. I looked totally fine,” Milano said, “and that’s the thing with mental illness, is you look totally fine, and I needed help.” During her hospitalization, Milano revealed, she did a lot of “intensive talking and treatment.” She also tried to “[figure out] if there was a pattern that went on, what [her] triggers were.”
At the end of the day, she knows how fortunate she is to have great health care but knows that not everyone is as lucky. She asks, “What does the woman, what does the mother, do that doesn’t have those people” and good health care?
