Amanda Bynes's fiancé confirms that they've ended their engagement
Last month former child star Amanda Bynes resurfaced on Instagram with some big news: She’d gotten engaged to the “love of my life,” a man later identified as Paul Michael.
On Valentine’s Day, Bynes — who starred on All That and The Amanda Show before finding fame as a teen box office queen in films like What a Girl Wants — flashed a large engagement ring as she held hands with her new fiancé.
But all Instagram evidence of the relationship has been deleted, and the 33-year-old was ringless in a recent solo photo. Now, Michael has confirmed to In Touch Weekly that the couple has broken up.
Michael told the celebrity gossip magazine that “we did” call off the engagement, but claimed that he remained on good terms with Bynes post-breakup.
“I love her though, she’s my best friend,” he said.
Bynes has not publicly commented on the split. Her most recent Instagram post is six days old, and shows her celebrating one year and two months of sobriety with two male friends.
This would have been the first marriage for Bynes, who quit acting in 2010 — her last film was Easy A — and has since battled substance abuse and mental health issues. Her mother maintains her conservatorship, which the former actress and aspiring fashion designer recently spoke out against in her Instagram Stories. Late last month, a source told E! News that Bynes’s mother would have to approve a marriage but was reportedly unlikely to do so.
