Amanda Knox is engaged after an alien-themed proposal, 9 years after wrongful murder conviction
Amanda Knox, a criminal justice activist who found her calling after she was found wrongfully convicted of murder when she was a college student, is engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Christopher Robinson. Robinson, a Seattle poet and author, and Knox have been together since 2015.
The pair announced their engagement on Friday by posting a six-minute-long video of an alien-themed proposal on YouTube.
Knox also shared the footage on Instagram, writing, “It was just your average Sunday night, when suddenly…”

The video shows Knox walking outside after she hears a strange noise and discovering a meteorite. Inside is a tablet, showing a science-fiction story that Robinson wrote describing their love.
“I had been thinking about this, but it’s already happened in the future,” Robinson says in the video. “It’s happening now. I don’t have a ring, but I do have a big rock. Will you stay with me until the last star in the last galaxy burns out and even after that? Amanda Marie Knox, will you marry me?” Knox does not wear rings.

Knox became famous 11 years ago when her roommate while she was studying abroad in Perugia, Italy, Meredith Kercher, was found murdered. Knox and her then-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, were charged and found guilty, along with Rudy Guede. Knox spent almost four years in prison. Guede is still serving his sentence of 16 years, but both Knox and Sollecito were acquitted in 2011.
In a previous interview with People, Knox spoke about marriage and her relationship with Robinson, stating, “I don’t want to get married for the sake of getting married. My hope is that I have a partner with whom I can continue to take on the world … and I very much love Chris and feel like he is my partner, and he would be a wonderful dad and we talk about it all the time. So I look forward to that part of my life that I had always taken for granted growing up and then had to let go of in prison.”
Knox currently hosts the Broadly and Facebook Watch series, The Scarlett Letter Reports.
