Amazon Reveals First Look at ‘Deadloch’ Season Two, Fills Out Cast
Deadloch is heading north. Amazon Prime Video Australia’s hit comic murder mystery drama has begun production on its second season, and relocates the action from Tasmania to the sweltering heat and humidity of the Northern Territory.
In June, it was revealed that Amazon had renewed Deadloch. On Friday, the streamer offered up more details including a first-look production image and casting news for season two, which sees Detective Eddie Redcliffe (Madeleine Sami) and Senior Sergeant Dulcie Collins (Kate Box) travel to Darwin to investigate the death of Eddie’s former policing partner, Bushy. However, Eddie and Dulcie are drawn into a bigger mystery when the body of a local icon is discovered in a remote town right in the middle of croc country.

The six-episode second season of Deadloch will feature some familiar faces, including the put-upon policewoman-turned-trainee forensics specialist Abby (Nina Oyama) and Dulcie’s loving if rather clingy wife Cath (Alicia Gardiner). With the new location, there will also be plenty of new characters, with the likes of Steve Bisley, Shari Sebbens, Genevieve Morris, Byron Coll, Nikki Britton, Anthony J Sharpe, Blake Pavey, Damien Garvey, Ngali Shaw, Bev Killick, Ling Cooper-Tang, Ursula Yovich, Syd Brisbane, Ines English and newcomer Lennox Monaghan joining the cast. Deadloch writer Jean Tong will also be making her acting debut in the second season as a journalist who helps Eddie and Dulcie out.
Created, written and produced by Kate McLennan and Kate McCartney, Deadloch has proved a big critical and ratings success for Amazon’s Aussie originals team, with the streamer revealing that the first season became a breakout hit on Prime Video, reaching the Top 10 TV Shows in more than 165 countries and territories on Prime Video including the U.S., U.K. and Canada. Additionally, the series won five AACTA Awards earlier this year, including best acting in a comedy for Box and best screenplay in television for McCartney and McLennan. The show has also scored three nominations in the 2024 TV WEEK Logie Awards.
“We are so excited to be bringing the second season of Deadloch to life in beautiful Garramilla/Darwin and we’re beyond thrilled to be working with this exceptional crew and cast of actors, dogs and crocodiles,” McLennan and McCartney said in a statement.
Deadloch is co-produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video, Guesswork Television and OK Great Productions, with support from Screen Queensland and Screen Territory.
