More from GoldDerby
Singers
By far the most popular type of act on “AGT” is singing, and there have now been eight such champions: Season 1’s Bianca Ryan, Season 3’s Neal E. Boyd, Season 4’s Kevin Skinner, Season 5’s Michael Grimm, Season 6’s Landau Eugene Murphy Jr., Season 11’s Grace VanderWaal, Season 13’s Shin Lim and Season 19’s Richard Goodall.
Ventriloquists
Another fan-fave genre is ventriloquism, with some of these competitors also incorporating singing into their acts. So far, three of them have claimed victory: Season 2’s Terry Fator, Season 10’s Paul Zerdin and Season 12’s Darci Lynne Farmer.
Magicians
Magic acts have gained more and more popularity through the years, with Season 9’s Mat Franco, Season 13’s Shin Lim and Season 16’s Dustin Tavella all pulling wins out of their hats.
Dog acts
Our furry friends have barked their way to the finish line on two different occasions — first for Season 7’s Olate Dogs and then for Season 18’s Adrian Stoica & Hurricane.
Dancers
To date, the only two dance acts to take home the championship have been Season 8’s solo dancer Kenichi Ebina and Season 17’s precision group Mayyas.
Spoken word acts
The first spoken word artist to compete on “America’s Got Talent” was Season 15’s Brandon Leake, and he talked his way into viewers’ hearts that year.
