‘American Idol’ Finalist Bo Bice Not Pleased with Treatment at Popeyes

FOX 5 Atlanta had an exclusive interview with American Idol Season 4 contestant Bo Bice. The singer, who wound up losing to winner Carrie Underwood, says he was the victim of racism because of an incident at a Popeyes when an employee called him a “white boy.” “One of the three young ladies behind the counter said, ‘He’s already got his. That white boy over there,’” Bice recounted.

“If the tables had been turned, and I had used something and had been as insensitive as to say something like that, you’re talking about me being boycotted — there would be people not buying my albums, there would be people coming and picketing at my shows and everything else,” Bice complained.

Mack II, Inc., the company that owns that Popeyes location, released a statement saying they are “very sorry that incident occurred and for any pain or embarrassment that Mr. Bice experienced.” The anchors at FOX 5 Atlanta say they were told the worker Bice said called him a “white boy” has been suspended.

Meanwhile, Bice is upset, and said America should be ashamed of itself. “The fact that I’ve got to sit on TV and come down a notch and look like a petty little brat by tweeting and Facebooking this, just to open up dialogue so we can have an adult conversation is ridiculous,” Bice said. “And America, you should be ashamed.”
