American R&B Icon Angela Bofill, Singer Of “This Time I’ll Be Sweeter”, Dies At 70
Angela Bofill, the legendary singer and songwriter of major hits such as “I Try,” “This Time I’ll Be Sweeter” and “I’m On Your Side,” passed away at the age of seventy. She passed away on Thursday, 13th June, at her daughter’s home in Vallejo, California. The cause of the death was not available immediately.
Rich Engel, Angela’s friend and manager took to Facebook and posted. “On behalf of my dear friend Angie, I am saddened to announce her passing on the morning of June 13th,” Engel wrote in his first post.
He added the following in his second post “Just to clear up the confusion. On behalf of Shauna Bofill, husband Chris Portuguese, we are saddened but must report that the passing of Angela yesterday is indeed true. We thank Melba Moore and Maysa for their early condolences. Thank for your many posts.”
Angela Bofill – ‘This Time I’ll Be Sweeter’
Angela Bofill was born on 2nd May 1954 in Brooklyn. Her father was Cuban and her mother was Puerto Rican. She started singing when she was a teen and she was one of the singers of the New York City’s All City Chorus, which was made up of the best singers of all high schools in the five boroughs.
She released her first album titled ‘Angie’ in 1978 through GRP records and less than a year later her second album was also released which was named ‘Angel of the Night’. Most of her songs from all the albums are major hits and the fans still listen and groove along with them.
The passing away of Angela Bofill has left an indelible void in the music industry, but her music will continue to inspire the upcoming generation of musicians.
