American Rust, which took place and was filmed in Pennsylvania, starred Daniels as chief of police Del Harris, who, when the son of the woman he loved was accused of murder, became entangled with the investigation. The show was first cancelled in January 2022 after one season at Showtime, but got picked up for Season 2 — dubbed American Rust: Broken Justice — by Amazon Freevee in June of that year. (The new episodes ultimately streamed on Prime Video proper, just over a month after it was reported that Amazon planned to shutter Freevee.)
The cast also included Maura Tierney, David Alvarez, Julia Mayorga, Alex Neustaedter, Mark Pellegrino and Rob Yang. But there’s a silver lining for Tierney, at least: As TVLine exclusively reported earlier this week, she’s booked a series-regular gig on Season 24 of NBC’s Law & Order.
Pennsylvania’s Tribune-Review was first to report American Rust‘s cancellation. Will you miss the show? Tell us below.
