‘All-American’ Star Daniel Ezra Joins Glen Powell In New ‘Running Man’ Movie From Edgar Wright And Paramount

EXCLUSIVE: After breaking tackles for six seasons on the hit CW series All American, Daniel Ezra has found a new challenge to run away from as sources tell Deadline he is set to join Paramount’s reimagining of The Running Man starring Glen Powell. Katy O’Brian is also on board with Edgar Wright directing the pic. Wright will also produce with his producing partner Nira Park and Simon Kinberg. Wright co-wrote script with Michael Bacall.

Based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King that the author first published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, Running Man was made famous by the 1987 movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. King’s futuristic novel is a chase thriller set in a dystopian America in the year 2025. The story centers on Ben Richards, a desperate man who participates in violent reality show called The Running Man in order to win enough money to revive his gravely ill daughter. The show follows Richards being chased by numerous hunters sent to kill him. George Linder to exec produce.

The film is set to bow on Nov. 21, 2025.

Best known for his leading role on the CW’s All American, which is written by Nkechi Okoro and Greg Berlanti. The show recently aired its sixth season (the final season with Daniel), and its high critical acclaim and loyal fanbase has established him as one of the industry’s most exciting and promising rising stars. His work on the series earned him a nomination for the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2022.

Other television credits include A Discovery of Witches alongside Theresa Palmer and Matthew Goode for Sky, the BBC One drama Undercover, and the acclaimed second series of The Missing, also for BBC One.

On stage, Daniel starred as Sebastian in Simon Godwin’s 2017 production of Twelfth Night at The National Theatre in London. Ezra is repped by UTA and Curtis Brown Group.
