American Theatre Guild presents ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ at the Morris Performing Arts Center
SOUTH BEND — American Theatre Guild presents “Fiddler on the Roof” from Feb. 3 to 5 at the Morris Performing Arts Center, 211 N. Michigan St.
Based on “Tevye (or Tevye the Dairyman) and his Daughters,” a series of stories by Sholem Aleichem, and written by Tony Award-winner Joseph Stein and Pulitzer Prize winners Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick, the 1964 musical takes place in 1905 in a Russian village where a dairyman tries to maintain his Jewish cultural and religious traditions in the face of a changing world.
Directed by Tony Award-winner Bartlett Sher ("To Kill a Mockingbird," "South Pacific," "The King and I") and choreographed by the acclaimed Israeli choreographer Hofesh Shechter.
Performances are at 8 p.m. Feb. 3 and 4 and at 2 p.m. Feb. 4 and 5.
