Ana Navarro says immigrants are 'risking their lives' to keep country running during coronavirus pandemic
Ana Navarro stopped by the Hot Topics table at The View after an extended absence from the show, and she wasted no time diving right into the debate over President Trump’s latest round of restrictions on immigration.
Navarro told viewers that she feels Americans who are in favor of Trump’s immigration ban need to give credit to immigrants who have helped keep the country running during the coronavirus crisis.
“If you were able to pour fresh milk into your cereal this morning, if you had sliced strawberries, if you have been eating meat, if you have been drinking dairy it’s probably because there are immigrants —undocumented immigrants — in the fields of America risking their lives, working not at six feet apart in order to continue feeding us,” said Navarro.
She continued, “We really have to think about just how much immigration has meant to flattening this curve and dealing with this issue — legal and undocumented. That’s the damn truth.”
Viewers shared their reactions to Navarro’s comments on Twitter, and some said they agree with her take:
Ana thank you so much for your strong support for migrant workers.
When people in society do not have the same rights as others, & yet work so hard & add to our economies they need to be treated fairly in pay, health care etc.— T. Stephens (@TStephe05332788) April 22, 2020
And just like that, @ananavarro wrapped up the immigration conversation very nicely: immigrants—legal and undocumented—are keeping us alive. She should be on #TheView daily. @TheView pic.twitter.com/wuzivjXbpB

But others weren’t on board with Navarro’s points:
Millions of people out of work and @TheView wants more immigration. They don’t care about keeping America safe. This is your Democratic Party. And just another reason to #WalkAway #coronavirus

@TheView You people should be ashamed of yourselves. YES , suspending immigration is the right thing to do. Do you NOT care about American lives? Are you more worried about being PC? Always pushing your elitist agenda. GO AWAY!!!!
