And the Winner of ‘The Voice’ Is…
It came down to Team Alicia’s Chris Blue and Team Blake’s Lauren Duski on the season finale of The Voice Tuesday night. Team Adam’s Jesse Larson finished in fourth place, and 15-year-old Aliyah Moulden ended up in third. But before we found out who the winner was, there was a plethora of star-studded performances.
Star-Studded Voice Performances
Lauren joined country big shots Little Big Town for a performance of their No. 1 hit, “Better Man.” The legendary Gladys Knight was first joined by TSoul, for a soulful performance of “Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me.” Then, as TSoul left the stage, Vanessa Ferguson joined Gladys for “If I Were Your Woman.” But one of the best performances of the night came from a coach and contestant who didn’t even make it to the finals. Gwen Stefani teamed up with Hunter Plake for a beautiful performance of her No Doubt hit “Don’t Speak.”
Manchester Tributes
There were a couple of emotional performances, as well. Former coach, Usher, joined Chris Blue for a tear-jerking performance of “Everybody Hurts” in honor of those affected by the Manchester bombing. While Miley Cyrus had this to say before her performance of “Malibu,” “I’d like to dedicate this song to my good friend Ariana Grande. And everyone who experienced that horrific attack yesterday, our hearts are with you.”
And the Winner Is…
Still, the whole night was leading up to one moment: the naming of the winner, who turned out to be … Chris Blue! It was an impressive win for coach Alicia Keys, who was only in her second season on the show. Alicia joined Chris and his family onstage for the celebration. Meanwhile, Chris had the always awkward task of trying to sing a song in the most emotional moment of his life. Congrats, Chris!
