Andy Cohen Reveals the ‘Very Annoying’ Thing About Play Dates With Anderson Cooper’s Kids
Andy Cohen is spilling all the tea about playdates with his friend Anderson Cooper. Apparently, there is something “very annoying” about getting together with the Anderson Cooper 360° journalist and his kids Wyatt, 4, and Sebastian, 2, who he shares with ex Benjamin Maisani. And parents of rambunctious kids (it’s me, hi!) can totally relate.
The Watch What Happens Live host, who is dad to son Ben, 5, and daughter Lucy, 2, dished about his famous friendship on an appearance on Live With Kelly and Mark. Host Mark Consuelos commented, per PEOPLE, “I love when you and Anderson Cooper go on daddy field trips with the kids. Who do you think is the more neurotic out of the two of you?”

If you’ve ever seen the two together, there’s no doubt that the Bravo TV host is much more “neurotic” than the serious CNN reporter, so Cohen jokingly responds, “I actually think I might be. You would think that he is…”
Consuelos added, “He’s pretty mellow,” prompting Cohen to share the thing that annoys him about Cooper.
“His kids also don’t ever seem to do anything wrong and it annoys me so much!” Cohen explained. “I’m like, my kid is like just out of a time out and headed into another time out. And his kids are like, ‘Yes daddy, I will do that,'” Cohen jokingly said in a robot voice. “I’m like, ‘Do you have any issues in your home?’ It’s annoying to me!”

Isn’t that the worst? I have three energetic boys, and getting them out of time out to almost immediately put them back in is the most relatable anecdote a celebrity parent has ever shared. Host Kelly Ripa agreed, sharing, “I keep telling him that. I’m like, ‘This is not representative of children!’” Seriously!
“I’m like, ‘Do they ever cry?’ It’s very annoying,” Cohen added. It’s like the people that go through pregnancy without even a day of morning sickness. It’s just not fair to the rest of us mere mortals!
This isn’t the first time Cohen’s highlighted the difference between his and Cooper’s kids. In a previous Instagram video, per TODAY, Cohen tells his friend, “So Anderson, I’m dealing with major mood swings and irrational temper tantrums. What are you dealing with these days?”
“I don’t know, my kids are pretty great,” Cooper unironically replies.
“What? What? Like there’s gotta be some wrinkle right now,” Cohen digs, but Cooper literally can’t think of anything (can you imagine?!).
“Wyatt, what’s the wrinkle?” Cooper turns to his toddler for help. They can’t come up with anything, so Cohen sarcastically says, “Oh that’s nice. Great, so everything’s peachy at your house. Oh good, and you had a great vacation?”
“Just hanging out with the kids,” Cooper replied. Poor Cohen!

Despite these differences though, Cohen is glad that his kids are friends with Cooper’s kids. In a 2022 interview on Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi podcast, he shared, “We are these geriatric patients hobbling around chasing our children, but look — it’s another bonding thing. I think what is going to be really interesting to us, as it develops, is being gay dads and as our kids start realizing more and more ‘Oh I have gay dads.’”
“I am so glad that Ben will grow up with Wyatt and that Ben will grow up seeing Anderson and Benjamin raising Wyatt and Sebastian,” he added.
These celebrity LGBTQ+ families are proving that love is love.
