Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt engaged
Brad Pitt and Angelina are engaged, reports People. “Yes, it’s confirmed,” said Pitt’s manager Cynthia Pett-Dante. “It is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy. There’s no date set at this time.”
The reports first broke when Robert Procop, the Beverly Hills jeweler who worked with the Oscar-winning actress on her “Style of Jolie” line, told The Hollywood Reporter he had collaborated with Brad Pitt to design an engagement ring. Flash forward to this Tuesday, when Jolie was photographed wearing a ring to a private viewing of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Chinese Galleries, which she attended with Pitt and their son Pax Pitt-Jolie.
Procop is a Jolie favorite, and their “Style of Jolie” profits raised money so the Education Partnership for Children in Conflict could build a school in Afghanistan. “Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a yearlong collaboration,” Procop told THR. “He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect, so I was able to locate a diamond of the finest quality and cut it to an exact custom size and shape to suite Angelina’s hand. Brad was always heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative design evolution. The side diamonds are specially cut to encircle her finger. Each diamond is of the highest gem quality.”
Pitt teased at a possibility of an engagement earlier this year, using it as a talking point to raise awareness of the continued fight for legalizing gay marriage. He has been outspoken about the topic and recently participated in a stage reading of 8, Dustin Lance Black’s play about California’s anti-gay marriage law Proposition 8. Of his relationship with Jolie, Pitt said, “We made this declaration some time ago that we weren’t going to do it till everyone can…. [T]o be in love with someone and be raising a family with someone and want to make that commitment and not be able to is ludicrous, just ludicrous.”
