Angelina Jolie seems to be inching toward putting her battles with ex-husband Brad Pitt behind her — she is signaling that it’s time to move on. The 49-year-old actress has reportedly dropped her federal case against the Department of Justice that was tied to the alleged domestic violence incident in 2016 with Pitt.

The filing, obtained by In Touch Weekly, read, “The parties to this action hereby stipulate to dismiss this action with prejudice, with each party to bear its own fees and costs.” The documents were submitted to the court on Wednesday, Sept. 25, marking the end of a two-year saga with the FBI. In March 2022, she filed the lawsuit using the pseudonym Jane Doe asking for specific records related to their investigation under the Freedom of Information Act.

The details of the lawsuit were made public six months later revealing what seemed to be a dark day for the then-Jolie-Pitt family, via Entertainment Tonight. (TRIGGER WARNING) The altercation ahead of takeoff began between Pitt and an unnamed child, presumed to be their oldest son, Maddox. The Bullet Train star was in an agitated state and reportedly said to Jolie about Maddox, “That kid looks like a f**king Columbine kid. You don’t know what you’re doing.” The heated argument continued to the restroom where it allegedly turned physical.

Pitt reportedly ”grabbed her by her head, shaking her, followed by grabbing her at the shoulders and shaking her” while telling his then-wife, “‘You’re f***king up this family.’” The situation left at least two of their six kids crying in fright as she claimed the abuse continued “every 30 minutes” during the flight. At the time, the FBI categorized the incident as “criminal activity.” However, once the case was passed to the Los Angeles office, the federal agency backed off charging Pitt.

At the time, sources close to Pitt shared with TMZ that Jolie was trying “to run Brad Pitt’s name through the mud all over again.” The media outlet also obtained documents from the FBI investigation which stated, “It was agreed by all parties that criminal charges in this case would not be pursued due to several factors.” Those parties included representatives from the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the FBI.

While this chapter is now closed for Jolie and Pitt, the war rages on over their French winery with no end in sight.
