Angie McMahon Shares New Single ‘Just Like North’
Angie McMahon has released a stand-alone single entitled ‘Just Like North’. The song was recorded during the sessions for the Melbourne singer-songwriter’s second studio album, 2023’s Light, Dark, Light Again, but was ultimately left off the final tracklisting. McMahon has now shared the studio version of the song, following its live premiere on her Making It Through Australian tour in May.
“I always wanted to put it out somehow,” said McMahon of the new track. “It was written in a School of Song session led by Courtney Marie Andrews, who prompted us to respond in some way to a beautiful poem called You Can’t Have It All by Barbara Ras. We’ve been playing it on tour lately because it holds the album theme of trusting in the course of failure and rebirth.”
McMahon has also shared an accompanying music video for the new single, co-directed by Kyle Caulfield and Young Ha Kim. The clip was shot at various locations across Melbourne – including McMahon’s suburban home, a rainforest on the outskirts of the city and during her sold-out performance at the Forum Theatre on the Making It Through tour earlier this year.
