Anne Rice's 'Interview With The Vampire' Renewed For Season 3 At AMC
Vampire, which is a contemporary adaptation of Rice’s gothic novel of the same name, just wrapped its second season. The series was renewed for season 3 ahead of its season 2 finale on June 30.
The Vampire panel was followed by a visit from the stars of Mayfair Witches, which has already begun production on an eight-episode second season in New Orleans with the addition of Alyssa Jirrels (Fatal Attraction, Boo Bitch) as a series regular, Ted Levine (Big Sky, On Becoming a God in Central Florida) as a recurring guest star and Thora Birch (American Beauty, Hocus Pocus) as a guest star.
The series returns later this year on AMC and AMC+.
Season 2 will travel to Scotland and, as result, feature new characters. Joining the series are Callan McAuliffe (The Duel), in the role of Abel Mayfair; Franka Potente (Run Lola Run, The Bourne Identity), as Annamieke, and Ian Pirie (Halo, The English) as Ian Mayfair.
During Saturday’s panel, Jirrels said her character Moira Mayfair, is Rowan’s (Alexandra Daddario) cousin who blames the family and Lasher (Jack Huston) for the death of her sister Tessa (Madison Wolfe). As for Rowan’s journey going forward, Daddario said her character has a very odd relationship with new infant.
“How does she feel about it? She wants to have sex with him and also loves him like child,” she said. “I mean it’s Anne Rice, it’s very confusing. It’s so messy. I’m like you are my father my son and my lover. It’s fascinating how she came up with these themes.”
Mayfair Witches, based on Rice’s trilogy of books, focuses on an intuitive young neurosurgeon, Rowan Fielding who discovers that she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches. As she grapples with her newfound powers, she must contend with a sinister presence that has haunted her family for generations.
Here’s a teaser for season 2, which returns next year.
