Annie Wersching, THE LAST OF US and STAR TREK Actress, Dies at 45
It is with great sadness that we report that actress Annie Wersching, best known for her roles on series like 24, Marvel’s Runaways, and on Star Trek: Picard as the Borg Queen, has passed away from cancer at the age of 45. Wersching also famously lent her talents to the original The Last of Us game in the role of Tess, where she did voice and motion capture work. She was a staple of the small screen for years. She actually began her TV acting career on Star Trek: Enterprise in 2002, then appeared on fan-favorite genre shows like Angel, Charmed, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, and dozens of other series.
In a statement, Wersching’s husband, actor Stephen Full, had this to say:
There is a cavernous hole in the soul of this family today. But she left us the tools to fill it. She found wonder in the simplest moment. She didn’t require music to dance. She taught us not to wait for adventure to find you. “Go find it. It’s everywhere.” And find it we shall.
By the time she appeared on Star Trek: Picard, Wersching was already battling cancer, having been diagnosed in 2020. She underwent the rigorous and hours-long makeup process while fighting this battle, and turned in a hell of a memorable performance. Many of her colleagues posted messages praising her as an actress and as a human being. This included Kiefer Sutherland, her 24 co-star for two seasons.
The world lost a light today @Wersching was one of the greatest actors I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with, and my friend. My heart breaks for her young family. May she be remembered for the beautiful person that she was.
