Anthony Bourdain went to Texas and learned that nobody wants a border wall
On Sunday’s Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, the host visited the border towns of west Texas for one of his final episodes. During a stop in Marfa, an eclectic town of about 18,00 people, Bourdain talked to local saloon owner Ty Mitchell about Donald Trump’s proposed border wall.
“My ranch is on the river, it’s on the border. You can’t survive without the river,” Mitchell said. “And we can’t survive without the people on that side of the river. They can’t survive without us. … And they’re our friends, for God’s sake.”
Those sentiments were echoed throughout the towns Bourdain visited. They have become so intertwined with their neighboring cities in Mexico that the people in them speak each other’s language — “a sign of mutual respect,” Mitchell said.
And when you’re talking about a border wall, obviously people are going to react on Twitter, with one person replying directly to a Trump tweet about immigration.
Anthony Bourdain final episodes shows texans love the openness. No wall necessary.

Bourdain, who said his travels had taken him to places with border walls, shared some thoughts.
“Few things are uglier in the entire world of all the places that I’ve seen,” the now-deceased host said while sitting on the river between the United States and Mexico. “Few things have been more of an indication of an utter failure of otherwise smart people to figure shit out.”
Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on CNN.
