Anthony Bourdain's final moments on 'Parts Unknown' are a dark look at his past
On the final Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, Bourdain traveled to New York’s Lower East Side. Though much of the episode was focused on the area’s music and art during the 1970s and ’80s, some of the most interesting parts were when Bourdain took us on a very strange trip down memory lane. Bourdain — who was found dead in June, an apparent suicide — had talked openly about his past drug use and admitted on the show that the only reason he went to the Lower East Side was for the music and for heroin. The show opened with Bourdain talking about various “dope houses” in the area, and he later visited a man who kept a scrapbook of baggies with the names of whatever heroin had been in them — such as DOA, Poison, and Toilet.
“You know you were doing something bad when you bought a product called ‘Toilet’ and, you know, shoot it in your arm,” Bourdain said.
As this was the final episode, fans took to Twitter to say their goodbyes.

And while Bourdain spent so much of his time on Parts Unknown traveling the globe eating exotic foods, his final moments on the show were in a New York City apartment eating a plain, hard-boiled egg.
