'America's Next Top Model' premiere ratings rubbish
American viewers fought off America’s Next Top Model‘s British invasion Wednesday night.
The new U.S. vs. UK edition of the veteran reality show delivered less-than-fierce ratings, declining 54 percent from last February’s debut. Top Model had 1.3 million viewers and a 0.6 in the adult demo. Why, that’s even worse than NBC’s Rock Center with Brian Williams (2.9 million, 0.7)! To be fair, Top Model has had an incredible run of 18 cycles. Lead-in One Tree Hill (1.6 million, 0.7) was down a bit from last week.
Meanwhile, several broadcast shows had sunny news this morning, with ratings recovering further from that mysterious Valentine’s week slump.
Fox’s two-hour Idol (17 million, 4.9 preliminary adults 18-49 rating) won the night, down only 4 percent despite airing a couple hours on Tuesday night too.
ABC and CBS tied, with the former posting gains for The Middle (8.5 million, 2.6) up 18 percent, Suburgatory (7.2 million, 2.4) up 4 percent, Modern Family (11.7 million, 4.8) flat and Happy Endings (6.2 million, 2.8) up 17 percent. Revenge (7.4 million, 2.4) was flat.
Survivor (10.6 million, 2.9) perked up slightly and Criminal Minds (12.5 million, 3.1) was flat. CSI (11.2 million, 2.6) was down 10 percent after posting gains in recent weeks.
NBC’s Whitney (4.1 million, 1.5) and Chelsea (3.5 million, 1.3) were steady. After the aforementioned Rock Center, Law & Order: SVU (5.4 million, 1.6) was flat.
