'The Big Bang Theory' guys boldly go out in 'Star Trek: TNG' costumes -- EXCLUSIVE PHOTO

We’re not really sure this supremely awesome photo needs any further explanation, but just in case you were curious what’s going on here…

On this week’s episode of The Big Bang Theory, Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Sheldon (Jim Parsons), Howard (Simon Helberg), and Raj (Kunal Nayyar) head out to a comic-book convention in Bakersfield, Calif. dressed in their finest Star Trek: The Next Generation costumes, when Leonard’s car gets stolen and they’re forced to seek help. (In the off chance a few of you aren’t familiar with the wonders of Star Trek: TNG, from left to right, Howard is dressed as an evil member of the Borg, Raj as the Klingon security chief Lt. Worf, Leonard as the intrepid Capt. Jean-Luc Picard, and Sheldon as the android Lt. Commander Data.)

Big Bang has maintained a harmonious relationship with TNG for much of its run; TNG castmate Wil Wheaton (i.e. Wesley Crusher) regularly recurs as a (kinda evil) version of himself, and Brent Spiner (Data) and LeVar Burton (Lt. Commander Geordi LaForge) have also appeared as themselves on the show.

As it happens, last week, The Big Bang Theory landed its highest ratings to date, but I daresay this shot has the potential to boost those numbers even higher. “The Bakersfield Expedition” airs this Thursday, Jan. 10, at 8 p.m. on CBS.
