'Boardwalk Empire' lover to star in CBS pilot

Boardwalk Empire‘s Irish hunk Charlie Cox is making his way toward primetime.

The English actor has been cast in the starring role in CBS’ drama pilot The Ordained. Cox plays Tom, the son of a Kennedy-esque family who leaves the priesthood and becomes a lawyer to prevent his politician sister from being assassinated as part of a deadly conspiracy.

On HBO’s Boardwalk, Cox played gangster Owen Slater who fell in love with with his boss’s woman and was tragically gunned down last season. He’s also made an appearance in the international hit Downton Abbey. The Ordained is written by newcomer Lisa Takeuchi Cullen and executive produced by Frank Marshall, Larry Shuman and A.B. Fischer.
