'Young and the Restless' says goodbye to Katherine -- VIDEO

The final goodbye to The Young and the Restless star Jeanne Cooper — who played Katherine Chancellor for 40 years until her death in May at age 84 — begins tomorrow on the CBS soap, when friends and family are summoned to the Chancellor mansion. The expectation is that the vacationing matriarch will be there to greet them, but instead they receive the sad news of her passing.

Naturally, fighting is sure to ensue over Katherine’s massive fortune and who gets to move into the fancy estate. “I knew Jeanne would want me to instantly think how her death would affect the show,” explains head writer Josh Griffith. “She would be very upset with us if we weren’t turning this into story.”
