The Apprentice – New Trump Biopic Rated R for “Graphic Nudity”
The controversial Donald Trump biopic The Apprentice has a new release date and will head to theaters next month ahead of the election, featuring Sebastian Stan as a young Trump in 1970s and 80s New York as he started his real estate business.
Directed by Ali Abbasi, Stan is joined by Jeremy Strong as Ray Cohn, Maria Bakalova as Ivana Trump, Martin Donovan as Fred Trump, Catherine McNally as Mary Anne Trump, Charlie Carrick as Freddy Trump, Ben Sullivan as Russell Eldridge, and Mark Rendall as Roger Stone.
The MPA Classification and Rating Administration has now revealed the film will be rated R for including "sexual content, some graphic nudity, language, sexual assault, and drug use."
Ali Abbasi was nominated for the Palme d'Or at this year's Cannes Film Festival, where The Apprentice premiered. Since then, it has journeyed to the prestigious Telluride Film Festival and will screen later this month at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles and Filmfest Hamburg in Hamburg, Germany.
It will have its UK premiere at the BFI London Film Festival in London, England, in October.
The Apprentice hits theaters on October 11.
