FilmSharks subsidiary The Remake Company has also sealed remake deals for the social satire with Italy’s Federation and Mexico’s BH5 with French, German, Chinese and Korean adaptation talks underway.

The latest from the producers of Spain’s reigning #1 Comedy “Ocho Apellidos Vascos” (“Spanish Affair”), the Spanish-Argentine co-production shot in Spain with Santiago Requejo (“Grandfathers”) directing and producing via his 2:59 Films. It has been streaming on Netflix in the U.S., Latin America and Spain since August.

Suar (“30 Nights With My Ex,” “A Boyfriend for My Wife”) plays opposite Paz Vega (“Spanglish” “Kill the Messenger”) in this topical comedy where Suar’s character, Carlos, is a successful businessman whose maddening addiction to his cell phone leads his wife to give him an ultimatum: the phone or divorce. His efforts to save his marriage lead him to sign up for smartphone addiction therapy, but will that be enough?

Ramón Barea (“Everybody Knows”) and Raquel Guerrero (“Alpha Males”) round up the main cast.

The comedy was filmed in various locations across Spain, including Bilbao, Getxo, Santurtzi, Zamudio, Gatika and Madrid, tapping the Vizcaya region’s incentives.

Led by its CEO-Founder Guido Rud, FilmSharks continues to forge new deals internationally. In September, it picked up world sales rights to Sandra Gugliotta’s upcoming “Irremediable,” a dramatic thriller lead produced by Argentina’s Magma Cine.

Inspired by real events, the drama sheds light on the shadowy world of illegal adoption, diving deep into the secrecy and corruption as it follows a desperate woman willing to risk everything to become a mother.

The international production, sales and distribution outfit also picked up world sales rights to the Spanish dramedy “Samana Sunrise,” starring box office star Luis Tosar (“Cell 211,” “Sleep Tight”) in October.

After presenting it at the Iberseries & Platino Industria in Madrid, FilmSharks has taken the comedy to the RioMarket and next to the AFM in Las Vegas and Film Baazar. Universal Pictures releases the film in Spain on Nov. 8, with Movistar Plus+ taking second window pay TV and SVOD rights.

Directed by Rafa Cortés (“Yo”) and based on a play by Jordi Galcerán, its Spanish cast is joined by Alfredo Castro of Chile (“El Conde”) and the U.K.’s Charles Dance (“Game of Thrones”).
