Ariana Grande Channels Her Inner ‘Dorothy Gale’ in Bedazzled Pumps at the Los Angeles Premiere of ‘Wicked’

Ariana Grande looked magical on the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of Universal Pictures’ “Wicked” held at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion yesterday.
Channeling her inner “Dorothy Gale,” the “7 Rings” songstress sported a pair of high-shine pumps in white dotted with crystals all throughout. The footwear moment was likely created to mimic the “The Wizard of Oz” character’s famed ruby red slippers she wears throughout the 1939 film. Grande’s footwear included rounded toes and sturdy 2 to 3-inch block heels.
Beyond being referential, the shoe pick is also timely, given a pair of rare ruby slippers worn on-screen by Judy Garland in the 1939 MGM musical is currently up for auction at Heritage Auctions. The current bid for the prop as of writing stands at $812,500. The auction is set to end on Dec. 7, a month after Grande’s “Wicked” is set to premiere in theaters.
Grande was also dressed in a custom Thom Browne look that was crafted in order to pay homage to the beloved character. The ensemble was crafted of a pastel pink plaid fabric, imitating Dorothy’s famed blue and white plaid dress.
When it comes to shoes, Grande often opts for platform sandals and pumps by Versace, Givenchy and GCDS. Stiletto pumps from Jimmy Choo and Giuseppe Zanotti are also common in her red carpet rotation. When off-duty, the “Positions” singer can be seen in Laurence Decade and Sergio Rossi ankle boots, as well as Prada and Ugg slippers.
The cast of “Wicked” will also include Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Bowen Yang and Jeff Goldblum. The adaptation acts as a prequel to “The Wizard of Oz,” and recounts everything that happened before Dorothy made her way down the yellow brick road. “Wicked” will be released in theaters on Nov. 27, and the second installment on Dec. 25, 2025.
