Ariel Winter shuts down body shamer who accused her of getting plastic surgery
Body shaming and plastic surgery accusations are nothing new for Ariel Winter. But after receiving a comment on a recent Instagram post asking her about the cosmetic work she’s had done, Winter responded to shut the critic down.
The 21-year-old had taken to her social media to share a clip from Wednesday night’s season 10 finale of Modern Family. However, the sweet moment quickly turned sour when one person commented on the post asking, “How many surgeries have you had on your body and face now?”
The same Instagram user then went on to write, “Two breast reductions, that’s obvious, cheek bone and chin shaving and lip fillers. Pretty obvious, she looks so different #Truth.”
Winter quickly corrected the commenter to say that the accusations were false.
“I wasn’t going to reply but I have to ask...what the f*** is cheek bone and chin shaving????” Winter asked. “You’re also wrong about all of it by the way. One breast reduction and I lost weight but you do you boo.”
The actress has been open about the breast reduction that she got back in June 2015, and even said that the surgery made her “feel like a new person.” Since then, she’s also responded to those who comment on her fluctuating weight, and most recently her weight loss, which she’s attributed to a new antidepressant.
Many people also came to Winter’s defense and even assured her that her transparency around the surgery has helped them.
“People are cruel but it doesn’t matter because you look amazing!” one person wrote. “You inspired me to proceed with my breast reduction and it was the best choice I ever made for myself.”
“It’s a shame people still say anything negative,” another said. “You’re a positive role model to young women (like my 15 year-old daughter) and that’s all that matters.”
