Arnold Schwarzenegger's Kids: All About His 5 Sons Daughters

In addition to being a movie star, a bodybuilding icon, and the former governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger is a dad of five kids, all of whom are grown-up.

With his ex-wife Maria Shriver, he welcomed daughters Katherine, born in 1989, and Christina, born in 1991, as well as his sons Patrick, born in 1993, and Christopher, born in 1997. That same year, The Terminator star also welcomed his youngest son, Joseph Baena, from his affair with his longtime housekeeper, Mildred Patricia Baena.

Over the years, Arnold has shown just how proud he is of his children, including some subtle brags here and there about what he’s taught them.

“My wife and I kind of split the responsibilities, she was in charge of education and of making them really good human beings and I was in charge of the discipline,” he said on The Graham Norton Show in 2023. “I taught them how to turn off the lights when they leave the room, not to waste water because we have droughts in California, how to wash their own clothes and their bed sheets and make their own beds.”

Arnold’s oldest kid Katherine was born on Dec. 13, 1989 and is a best-selling author, advocate, and mom of two (with a third on the way!).

At just 21 years old, Katherine became an author with her book Rock What You’ve Got: Secrets to Loving Your Inner and Outer Beauty from Someone Who’s Been There and Back. On Amazon, her literary debut is described as a “get-real guide to loving the body you’re in.”

Two years later, after graduating from the University of Southern California, Katherine released her second book: I Just Graduated . . . Now What? In it, she interviewed several famous names, from her own dad to Serena Williams, about their professional journeys and ambitions.

In 2017, she released her first children’s book, Maverick and Me, all about the joys of pet adoption. In 2020, she released The Gift of Forgiveness, a book that tackles the importance of forgiveness through interviews and short stories. In 2023, she released her fifth book, Good Night, Sister, a sweet children’s book on the power of sisterhood.

In addition to her literary career, Katherine hosts weekly Live parenting sessions for her series, BDA Baby, as well as working as an Ambassador for Best Friends Animal Society and the ASPCA.

As for her personal life, Katherine is married to Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt. The pair, who first met in 2018, got married in an intimate ceremony in June 2019. In 2020, the pair welcomed their first child together, Lyla. Two years later, they welcomed another daughter, Eloise. In July 2024, Katherine and Pratt announced they were expecting their third baby. Katherine is also a stepmom to Pratt’s son Jack, born in 2012, from his previous relationship with Anna Faris.

For Arnold, seeing his eldest turn into a mom has been a blessing. “It’s nice to see your kids having kids themselves and to watch this new dimension,” Arnold told People in May 2023. “You see them growing up and you see them going to school and getting smart and getting their degrees, getting their jobs and all this, but now seeing them be a parent? It’s fantastic. It’s really great.”

Arnold’s second oldest daughter with Shriver, Christina Schwarzenegger was born on July 23, 1991.

Christina, much like her mom, graduated from Georgetown University in 2013 with a major in English and a minor in the arts. A few years later, she followed her passion for the arts and studied interior architecture at Parsons School of Design.

As for her career, Christina worked as an editor at Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle brand Goop for three years as well as working for interior design startups following her time at Parsons.

Christina is a member of the Special Olympics Founder’s Council. “I love shining a light on those who feel outside the margins and bringing their experiences to light. The result is that we all feel validated and, ultimately, see that our differences are in fact, our superpowers,” Christina said of her work on the council, according to the Special Olympics’ website.

In 2018, she produced the Netflix documentary Take Your Pills and the 2022 follow-up, Take Your Pills: Xanax, a series that explores America’s dependency on perscription medications.

Christina opened up about her own dependancy on Adderall, which she originally started taking in high school to combat her ADD. “I didn’t really become too dependent on it until I was in my junior year of college,” she told Fox in 2018, revealing she stopped taking it after becoming too dependant. “In our junior and senior year of college, I pretty much used it very frequently.”

Patrick Schwarzenegger

Patrick Schwarzenegger was born on Sept. 18, 1993 and followed in his father’s footsteps by becoming an actor.

Ever since 2012, Patrick, who graduated from the USC Marshall School of Business, dived right into acting, with roles in shows and movies like Stuck in Love, Midnight Sun and The Staircase. He’s also starred in The Terminal List alongside his brother-in-law Chris Pratt and took the leading man role in the Prime Video series Gen V.

Most recently, he starred in the upcoming season of White Lotus, so we will surely be hearing more about him soon.

“I grew up going to set with him and I fell in love with it and it’s been a really fun journey,” Patrick told Jimmy Kimmel in 2021 about his dad’s influence in his acting.

Acting aside, he’s also got some brand deals under his belt like with Emporio Armani and co-founded the protein bar brand Mosh with his mom, Maria Shriver.

In December 2023, Patrick announced his engagement to model Abby Champion. “????FOREVER AND EVER ????,” he wrote in the caption. The two had been dating since 2015.

Prior to his relationship with Champion, Patrick famously dated Miley Cyrus for five months between 2014 and 2015.

Christopher Schwarzenegger

Christopher Schwarzenegger is Arnold’s youngest child with ex-wife Maria Shriver. He was born on Sept. 27, 1997.

Back in 2020, he graduated with a major in psychology from the University of Michigan.

“Christopher, you are a champion and I love you,” Arnold wrote on Instagram following his son’s virtual graduation. “I know your graduation from Michigan wasn’t the big celebration you dreamed about for years, but walking across a stage isn’t what makes me so proud of you: it’s your compassion, your hard work, your vision, your critical thinking, and your selflessness that make me burst with pride. I can’t wait to watch you keep climbing and succeeding.”

Since then, Christopher’s maintained a low profile with private social media accounts and so on. He’s gotten some attention for his dramatic weight loss transformation in the past few years but been quiet about it throughout.

Joseph Baena

Joseph Baena is Arnold’s son with his longtime housekeeper, Mildred Patricia Baena. He was born just a month apart from Christopher on Oct. 2, 1997.

Mildred didn’t reveal Joseph’s paternity during his early years until his resemblance to Arnold became apparent, and was later noticed by Shriver. Joseph’s identity was not revealed publicly until 2011.

Over the years, while Arnold has been critical of his extramarital affair, he has grown closer to his youngest son.

“It was wrong what I did. But I don’t want to make Joseph feel that he is not welcomed in this world — because he is very much welcomed in this world,” he said in his docuseries Arnold, per People. “I love him and he has turned out to be an extraordinary young man.”

Much like his dad, Joseph, who graduated from Pepperdine University in 2019, is passionate about bodybuilding and hitting the gym. He’s also a real estate agent and a budding actor. In 2024, he’s starring in movies Gunner and Athena Saves Christmas.

In 2022, Joseph participated in season 31 of Dancing With the Stars with pro dancer Daniella Karagach. He was eliminated on Week 5.

In May 2023, a source told Page Six that while Baena has a good relationship with his father, he isn’t close with his half-siblings.

“The other kids don’t love Joe,” the source claimed after Arnold’s older kids didn’t pose for photos with Baena while they all attended the premiere for their dad’s Netflix show, FUBAR.

“It’s a shame as he’s a really good kid, and Arnold has always treated him like all his other kids — very fairly. But for whatever reason, the other kids take [the affair] out on Joe.”
