Ashanti And Nelly Give First Joint Interview As Husband And Wife
Ashanti and Nelly are in martial bliss.
As the rapper turned 50, the newlyweds gave Entertainment Tonight the exclusive into his gold celebration in Las Vegas. However, the power couple couldn’t help but to also reflect on their heartwarming, spin-the-block love story.
When asked about the moment he’s “so unbelievably proud of,” Nelly immediately went back to the night “Ashanti walked across the [VERZUZ] stage.” She considered that catalyst to be “priceless.”
Ashanti gushed, “I [now] have my soulmate, my person, my best friend, my protector. It’s an amazing feeling. The universe doesn’t make mistakes.”
The rapper praised his wife for being a “great person and mother”—she welcomed their son, Kareem back in August— while also sharing how good it feels to have someone to celebrate his life with.
“When it comes to this, doing parties, having celebrations, me, personally, I didn’t have a chance to have birthday parties until I was giving myself birthday parties, but with her and her family—they made these types of events very meaningful,” Nelly shared.
Meanwhile, the “Baby” singer reflected on their journey and shared what she’s learned from her husband. “I don’t tell him all the time, but I’ve learned a lot [from him] about just being grateful and graceful and giving people grace. Being open-minded, level-headed, and not too emotional.”
The gold party TAO Las Vegas was one of two celebrations Nelly had to celebrate his 50th. The first was his Hallo-Western themed party in Atlanta. The Sin City event was more lavish. Per ET, Ashanti planned the entire party with guests including Anderson .Paak and Kandi Burruss in attendance. Kevin Hart popped out as a surprise guest.
