Ashley Olsen quietly welcomed her first child in 2023 after keeping the majority of her personal life out of the public eye.

The fashion designer married Louis Eisner, a contemporary artist and the son of jewelry designer Lisa Eisner, in a private ceremony in December 2022, about five years after they started dating.

Less than a year later, it was revealed in August 2023 that she had given birth to her son Otto after keeping her pregnancy private.

The two have avoided public events and rarely spoken about their relationship — a commitment to privacy that has extended into Olsen's pregnancy with Otto and now their family life.

From her private pregnancy to Otto's birth, here's everything to know about Ashley Olsen's son Otto.

While the exact date and location of his birth have not been confirmed, it was a rare moment for Olsen to share this personal news.

Olsen's decision to keep her pregnancy private didn’t come as a surprise. Unlike many celebrities who share their pregnancy journeys on social media, The Row co-founder chose to stay out of the public eye and prepare for motherhood away from the spotlight.

In 2021, Olsen and her twin sister Mary-Kate Olsen told i-D they were “raised to be discreet people” since their days as child stars on Full House.

Olsen's former Full House costars were among the first to congratulate her on the birth of her son. John Stamos and other members of the cast expressed their happiness for Olsen, who shared the role of Michelle Tanner with her twin sister.

Stamos paid tribute to the twins and congratulated Olsen in an Instagram post in the days after Otto’s birth was announced, saying watching the Olsens “grow into the incredibly bright and remarkable women they are today has been one of the greatest joys of my life.”

“Congratulations to Ashley and her husband, Louis,” he wrote in the caption, paired with clips from the Full House set.

Full House alums Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber also congratulated the new mom, sharing their excitement in an August 2023 episode of their Full House recap podcast, How Rude, Tanneritos!.

"The baby had a baby!" Sweetin said in the episode. "I'm sorry, I know she's not a baby. She's a 37-year-old woman, I realize that. But it's like when the youngest member of your family has a kid. It's like, 'Ah, it's happening!' "

"Congratulations Ashley and her husband. I'm really, really happy on the birth of their baby boy Otto," she continued. "I can't wait to — I'm sure they'll keep it private for sure, as they do, but I want to wish them well and congratulations! Welcome to motherhood!"

Barber chimed in that the news "blows my mind," adding, "The Full House family is so happy for them."

Olsen has yet to publicly talk about her parenting style, but given her own upbringing in the public eye, it's likely she values privacy and normalcy for her son.

Growing up as a child star, Olsen experienced the pressures of fame from a young age, which may have influenced her desire to protect Otto. In March 2017, she admitted to The Edit that she and her twin “stayed quite sheltered” from social media.
