Attorney General William Barr Met With Fox Chairman Rupert Murdoch After Impeachment Poll (Report)

Attorney General William Barr met with Fox chairman Rupert Murdoch on Wednesday evening, according to the New York Times.

The meeting took place at Murdoch’s New York residence, the Times reported, but it is not immediately clear what was discussed or who else was in attendance. A representative for Fox Corporation did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Barr and Murdoch’s reported meeting took place a day before President Donald Trump criticized Fox News on Twitter for the network’s poll on public attitudes toward the impeachment inquiry into Trump, which showed that 51% of respondents were in favor of impeaching and removing Trump from office.

“From the day I announced I was running for President, I have NEVER had a good @FoxNews poll,” Trump tweeted on Thursday. “Whoever their Pollster is, they suck. But @FoxNews is also much different than it used to be in the good old days.”

Murdoch has been a key adviser to Trump and has close ties with the president and his family. In 2017, the Times also reported that the two spoke “almost every day.”

Several former Fox employees or contributors — such as Bill Shine, John Bolton, Morgan Ortagus, Sebastian Gorka, and Heather Nauret — have also taken on positions at the White House. Meanwhile, former White House aides, including Hope Hicks, Raj Shah, and Sarah Huckabee Sanders, have taken on prominent positions at Fox.
