Chase Rice meets kids at Wilmington boys and girls club before Azalea Festival concert
UScellular brought multi-Platinum country music star and North Carolina Azalea Festival performer Chase Rice to Wilmington's Brigade Boys and Girls Club on Thursday.
Rice will perform as part of the N.C. Azalea Festival on Friday evening. A collaboration between Rice, UScellular, and the Azalea Festival will allow for 20 attendees of the Boys and Girls Club to receive tickets to Rice's live performance April 5, according to a news release from UScellular. In addition, USceullar made a surprise $10,000 donation to the Brigade Boys and Girls Club.
UScellular launched the "Built for Us" campaign in February 2023 with the goal of fostering healthier relationships with technology. Rice's visit to the Boys and Girls Club is part of UScellular's Music Artist Program, which aims to encourage healthier digital habits among youth attendees.
“We’re excited to partner with Chase and support the Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern North Carolina with a donation,” Jeremy Taylor, director of sales and operations for UScellular in eastern North Carolina, said in the release. “The importance of creating meaningful interactions and connecting to what matters most is a timely message to share with youth.”
As part of the visit, Rice highlighted how he unplugs from the digital world to allow for genuine connections.
"One of my favorite parts of touring is getting to connect with people all across the country, and I’m excited to be back home in North Carolina to meet with the local Boys & Girls Club,” Rice said in the release. “It can be hard to unplug sometimes, but it’s a huge part of how I reset between shows and I’m looking forward to hearing some of their favorite ways to unwind, too.”
Rice has sold more than 2.6 million albums and received more than 2.7 billion total streams. "The Album" by Rice features his latest Platinum-certified No. 1 hit "Drinkin' Beer. Talkin' God. Amen." and the top 10 hit "Lonely If You Are."
Rice has previously sold-out stadium shows alongside Kenny Chesney and Garth Brooks. He will join Dierks Bentley's Gravel & Gold Tour this summer.
As a headliner for the N.C. Azalea Festival concert series, Rice will perform Friday at Live Oak Bank Pavillion at 7 p.m.
