B&B’s Sean Kanan’s Throwback With GH’s Steve Burton Will Make You Do A Double Take
While there are striking similarities that make General Hospital brothers Jake and Danny the new AJ and Jason, the OG actors are still tight. Cousins by marriage, Sean Kanan, and Steve Burton remain closely connected despite not acting together on a soap for quite some time.
The Duo Are Still Beloved By Fans
In what remains one of the top incredible GH moments that fans fondly remember, the story of how AJ’s (Sean Kanan) drunk driving caused his brother Jason (Steve Burton) to suffer permanent memory loss and become hitman extraordinaire, Jason Morgan, still resonates with fans. Burton celebrated his birthday in June, and Kanan took the opportunity to post a photo of the two of them when they were both on GH back in the day on Instagram, captioning it, “Happy birthday @1steveburton Wishing you many happy returns. #GoldenHelmets.”
The hilarious term “Golden Helmets” lovingly refers to the fact that, at the time, both had perfectly coiffed locks of blonde hair. Burton graciously replied, “Thanks so much brother…appreciate all you’ve done for me ??????.”
One fan who’s been paying attention noticed that AJ had been mentioned on a recent episode and wrote, “Sean, your character on General Hospital is still referred to especially lately.”
Kanan Won’t Be Returning to GH
Illustrating that the actors were perfectly cast to play brothers, one viewer responded, “You both look just alike on this pic. Woah????????.” Most of the fans were suitably blasted into the past with the pic, fondly recalling the dysfunctional dynamic of AJ and Jason. Amidst the congratulations to Burton, one follower responded, “Awe! I loved AJ he shouldn’t have been killed.”
Sadly, in July 2021, Kanan told Then Is Now Podcast that he would probably never return to GH, as that door was officially closed. However, he’s carved himself out a wonderful niche as Deacon Sharpe on The Bold and the Beautiful, and his romance with the killer Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) keeps us riveted to the screen.
Burton is also wowing fans as Jason, who wasn’t actually dead but forced to work for the FBI. We know that the two shows will never cross over, but it would be nice if one or both of the actors could do a cameo on each other’s sudser, just to show the fans how grateful they are for the support.
And with Jason’s kids, Danny (Asher Antonyyn) and Jake (Hudson West), being very similar to their predecessors, a years-long rivalry could be in the making, so we’re staying tuned!
