Y2K fashion for young women included many iconic staples such as low-rider jeans, Von Dutch trucker hats, Victoria’s Secret’s Love Spell perfume, Razor cellphones, silver eyeliner, jackets with fur-trimmed hoods, and more.

Now, those nostalgic memories of “it girl” fashion are back as Baby Phat has re-issued “the coat that launched a million schoolyard fights,” per the release obtained by High Snobiety.

To kick off the brand’s 25th anniversary, Kimora Lee Simmons has re-launched the millennial outerwear in various colors just in time for the winter months.

Available in new colors: Olive, Onyx, Sand, and Glossy Red, the jacket stays true to its style with its plush appearance, fur-trimmed hood, and embroidered Baby Phat logo on the back.

The line — which became known for its glittery velour track suits, baby-tees, denim, and drapey tops – launched in 1999 by model and designer, Lee Simmons, before ceasing in 2010. She brought the brand back in 2019.

For the label’s relaunch, the 48-year-old has used her two daughters: Aoki Lee and Ming Lee Simmons as her muses — whom she shares with Phat Farm creator, Russell Simmons.

Kimora Lee Simmons spoke of reemerging her line with Bustle in September 2023 where she spoke on where the famous logo came from, fighting for recognition in the fashion world as a St. Louis-born   Japanese-Korean-African-American designer, and more.

“It’s a glittering pussy — could there be a more fly logo for a girl?” she quoted from her 2006 book Fabulosity, in regards to the logo’s creation in honor of her late cat Max. Speaking on breaking into the fashion world, she added, “I’m the one that got through where we weren’t supposed to get through.”

Mentioning how she didn’t always feel accepted by all sides of her ancestry, she said, “They didn’t want me to be there. ‘You’re too pretty, you’re too brown, you’re too this, you’re too that.’ It’s either a patriarchal male society, or something else that’s very sterile, but it’s not really us.”

Since the resurrection of Baby Phat, Lee Simmons has released capsule collaborations with retailers Forever 21 and Macy’s.

Upon the label’s first fall collection last year, she stated to Vogue, “I wanted to reconnect with the customer about what they want and what they love. It’s a small, intimate ode to our originals — our velour suits, baby tees, and denim. It’s timeless, classy, and sexy: You can wear it from the beach to the club.”

“It’s ever-evolving,” she added. “The silhouettes are giving a little bit of the old, and a little bit of the new. Our customer is sexy and modern. I definitely don’t feel like it’s going away. We’re here to stay.”
