'Bachelor' frontrunner exits show after being 'completely attacked by so many of the women'
Following last week's installment of The Bachelor, during which frontrunner Sarah Trott collapsed mid-rose ceremony, drama was brewing in the house on Monday’s episode, as many of the women thought Sarah was being “manipulative” and “calculated.”
Things only got worse when Sarah decided to crash a group date, which she was not part of, after realizing how difficult it was competing with all the other women for Matt James's heart.
“In my heart, I know all these special moments we had, and it, like, kills me to think, like, he's having these special moments with other women too. I just, like, worry, if I, like, can't get past this, it's really going to be a roadblock in my relationship with Matt, and now I feel like I should do something about it,” said Sarah, as she walked into the group date and interrupted his one-on-one time with contestant Katie Thurston.
Taking time away from the women on the group date, some of whom have yet to have one-on-one time with Matt at all, did not sit well among the house. Despite receiving validation from Matt, with a target on her back Sarah ended up hiding in her room the next day, refusing to interact with the ladies. However, Sarah eventually slid into the group just in time for the date card, which opened up a very uncomfortable confrontation.
After being called “calculated,” “manipulative” and “toxic” by multiple women, Sarah was told she had “burned all bridges.” Kit Keenan told Sarah, “I hope that your connection with Matt is very strong right now, because the rest of your living situation here is going to be horrible.”
Ostracized from the group, Sarah ultimately decided to leave The Bachelor. But not before revealing to Katie, whose time with Matt she had previously interrupted, that she was leaving the show in order to spend more time with her father who has been diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
“He has a terminal illness and, like, it's not, like, years or months. It's, like, maybe, like, weeks. So that's really weighing on my heart, too. Time away from him,” shared Sarah. The feeling resonated with Katie, who lost her father in 2012. “I one hundred percent encourage you to be with him. If I could get back the minutes I had with him,” Katie said. “I understand that more than I would like to. Knowing that, I mean, yeah. It changes everything. And I missed out on my goodbye to my dad, so, I would never want that for you.”
As Katie delivered the news to the rest of the women, reminding them to “stay classy” during this time, Bachelor Nation fell more in love with the contestant who hilariously showed up with a sex toy on day one.

Meanwhile, Sarah delivered the news to Matt which ended with a tearful goodbye. “I've prayed about this, and I've thought about it, and, like, I just feel really called to, like, go home and be with my family. I just don't think I'm ready for this,” Sarah told Matt, who responded, “That doesn't mean I'm gonna stop thinking about you and praying for your dad and thinking about your family. When you're ready, some guy is gonna be extremely lucky and I'm bummed that it's not me, but I've learned so much from you already. And what it means to sacrifice and do anything for the family and for people you love, and I'm gonna miss you.”
“This isn't the best Sarah, and Matt deserves the best. I gave it my all. I just can't do this. But part of me thinks I'm making a mistake because he is so incredible,” Sarah said as she left the show sobbing.
The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
