'Bachelorette alum Chad Johnson arrested for domestic violence, robbery amid dispute with girlfriend
Chad Johnson, of The Bachelorette fame, has been arrested amid a dispute with his girlfriend.
A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed to Yahoo Entertainment that the 32-year-old reality star was arrested on Monday afternoon “for robbery with domestic violence enhancement,” which is a felony charge. He was booked at the Van Nuys Jail and bail was set at $100,000.
His arrest came amid a multi-day dispute with his girlfriend, Annalise Mishler, some of which she documented and posted on social media. According to TMZ, Mishler called 911 on Monday and when police arrived, they claimed she had visible red marks on her face and there was a hole in the wall of her apartment. She reportedly told police the drama started a day earlier when Johnson was drunk and became physical with her.
The robbery charge relates to Johnson allegedly taking Mishler’s phone from her while she called police, per TMZ. The domestic violence charge is an enhancement added to another criminal charge and can extend the sentence if he’s convicted.
Us Weekly reports that Mishler has since filed for a restraining order against her now ex-boyfriend.
Mishler posted some of the dispute, which started Sunday, on social media. In one video, she revealed that the TV bad boy “got drunk for the first time in 50 days” and “punched a hole in my wall.” A subsequent video documented Johnson yelling outside her door telling her he hoped she would “f--king die.” She said she wasn’t trying to expose him with “malicious intent,” but she was tired of it continuously happening.
Mishler went on to say, in the videos captured by Reality Steve, that Johnson’s “done a lot of things while drunk.” She claimed this particular fight stemmed from her confronting him after she saw he was getting notifications from the dating app Hinge. “How dare I have the audacity,” she said.

Mishler then shared a post on Monday saying that things “escalated this morning and are being taken care of,” presumably referring to his arrest. She also said she was “being guilted” for her video posts documenting the dispute, which she was told was “ruining [Johnson’s] life.” She also thanked her followers for their support.
On Monday, prior to his arrest, Johnson did an interview with TooFab, admitting that things got ugly after he drank for the first time in months and apologizing for his behavior. He said he suffered a “big relapse” and "I don't remember actually seeing her. I drank to the point where I didn't even know I was with her.”
He went on to admit, “I screwed up 1000 percent. You can't take that kind of stuff back.” And he apologized to anyone who was triggered by the videos posted by Mishler, saying, "I'm super sorry to any girl that has seen my girlfriend's story; to any girl that has watched that and felt that emotion that triggers all these bad emotions to people, of the bad things that they've had happen. I am sorry. I never meant to make anybody think all of these things. I'm just sorry for my actions."
However, he questioned why Mishler posted the videos on social media. He also said he’ll be getting professional help because while he "doesn't drink every day, ... when I do drink I make terrible decisions."
Johnson earned the reputation as a bad boy on the ABC reality show in 2016 — on JoJo Fletcher’s season — and was actually nicknamed “Bad Chad.” He was later booted from the spin-off Bachelor in Paradise by host Chris Harrison for being drunk and belligerent.
He’s made reality stardom into a career, also appearing on Famously Single, Celebrity Big Brother UK and MTV's Ex on the Beach.
Johnson and Mishler met last summer after connecting on the dating app they were fighting over. They started dating in September, but it was turbulent from the start. In November, when they were making their red carpet debut, she said they should have their own reality show with Johnson agreeing it would be entertaining because, “We fight constantly,” he told Hollywood Life.
Yahoo has reached out to Johnson about his arrest and will update this story when we hear back.
