Bad Bunny Joins Cast of Adam Sandler’s ‘Happy Gilmore’ Sequel
Bad Bunny has landed another acting gig. This time, the Puerto Rican rapper will join the cast of Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The rapper adds to a constantly growing cast: Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald, who starred in the 1996 comedy, will return for the sequel, and Kansas City Chiefs tight end (and Taylor Swift’s boyfriend) Travis Kelce also joins the comedy with a small, unspecified role. Sandler confirmed Kelce’s casting news while promoting the sequel on the Tonight Show last month after the NFL star pitched himself for the film.

“I didn’t even know there was a job opening on Happy Gilmore 2,” Kelce said on his New Heights podcast with brother Jason Kelce. “I’ll be a fucking extra… anything to get around Happy Gilmore, an Adam Sandler film or set — count me in.”
As a refresher, Happy Gilmore follows failed hockey player Happy who discovers his hidden talent as a golfer. In an effort to get his grandmother’s house back from the IRS, Happy enters tournament after tournament applying his untraditional skills to the golf grounds. (Rolling Stone readers named Happy Gilmore one of Sandler’s best movies back in 2014.)
Kyle Newacheck, who directed Netflix’s Murder Mystery starring Sandler, will direct the sequel. Details around the film’s plot or release date have not been revealed.
Last month, Deadline reported that Bad Bunny will join the cast of the Darren Aronofsky-directed film Caught Stealing, a film that follows a former baseball player that gets intertwined in New York City’s crime scene. Caught Stealing will also star Austin Butler, Zo? Kravitz, Regina King, Matt Smith, Liev Schreiber, and Will Brill.
