Balloons Steal the Show at DNC
During the Democratic National Convention, Hillary Clinton was anointed the first female presidential nominee by a major American political party. To celebrate the occasion, it appears as though the event organizers gathered all the red, white, and blue balloons in the greater Philadelphia area and had them cascade from the ceiling.
As the balloons kept falling and falling, networks like CNN, NBC, and CBS captured politicians and delegates being covered with the balloons.
Twitter erupted with people who were fascinated by the spectacle. Viewer Evan Wyloge asked, “What happened at the end of a convention before balloons were invented?” Not all of Twitter was happy about the balloons though, as Balloons Blow let everyone know with the tweet, “Absurd amount of #DemConvention balloons. More garbage 4 landfill. #DNC your #sustainability team blows!”
Still, it was worth it to see the delighted faces of children, the Clintons — and, of course, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
