First published in 2021, Barbaric follows Owen, a barbarian who has been cursed to do good with what remains of his life. Accompanied by his talking axe, described in the comic’s synopsis as a “moral compass with a drinking problem,” Owen wanders the realm, “foredoomed to help any who seek assistance. But there is one thing Owen hates more than a life with rules: witches.”
Sam Claflin (Daisy Jones & the Six) is attached to star as Owen, while Stewart (Star Trek: Picard) will voice his weapon companion.
Behind the camera, Michael Bay — who has helmed film franchises like Transformers and Bad Boys — is in talks to direct the series, while Sheldon Turner (X-Men: First Class) will write and exec-produce. Claflin is also on board as an executive producer.
A rep for Netflix had no comment when reached by TVLine.
