The vintage style t-shirts combine the iconic campaign imagery from each of the films. In one baby pink tee, a playful and smiling Margot Robbie stands beside a sulking Cillian Murphy. Another features an illustration of a retro Barbie doll facing an exploding atomic bomb. Check out the full lineup of Barbenheimer tees on Amazon, starting at $12.99.
The idea behind the back-to-back screenings began as a meme in response to the wildly different blockbuster films having twin release dates. Christopher Nolans’ “Oppenheimer,” starring Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr. and Emily Blunt, is a period piece about the theoretical physicist who led the development of the atomic bomb. Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,” featuring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, is a neon-hued fantasy comedy that follows Barbie and Ken as they escape Barbie world for the real, human world.
