Barry Williams delivers 'perfect' dance, officially becoming longest-lasting “Brady Bunch ”star on “DTWS”
Williams surpassed TV sister Maureen McCormick who made it to week 7 on season 23 before his unfortunate ouster on week 8.
Barry Williams has set himself apart from the Bunch.
The man best known as Greg Brady on the beloved 1970s sitcom is now officially the Brady Bunch cast member to make it the furthest on Dancing With the Stars. With his week 8 rumba to Whitney Houston's "Didn't We Almost Have it All?", Williams surpassed his TV sister Maureen McCormick, who made it to week 7 on season 23 (Brady matriarch Florence Henderson went home in week 5 on season 11). Unfortunately, that is as far as Williams will make it on season 32 as he was shockingly eliminated at the end of the episode.
Williams previously told EW that though his goal was to win season 32 of the dance competition, he at least wanted to beat out McCormick. "I have to do that," he joked, referencing a famous Brady episode. "I lost that egg on the cone driving contest and she never let me live it down."
"This experience is what life is always like with the Bradys, and that is like a family," the actor added. "This is what we do for our sisters, our brothers, for our family — and it's very gratifying."
Dancing with partner Peta Murgatroyd, Williams fought to show improvement each week. For Whitney Houston night, the duo earned heaps of praise for their improvement. Carrie Ann Inaba declared it their "best dance yet," while Bruno Tonioli pronounced it "perfect," noting the importance of delivering a dance with no mistakes. Guest judge Billy Porter even challenged Williams to do more going forward, saying, "It's too easy for you."
The pair nabbed eights across the board from all of the judges, amounting to a score of 32 out of 40. This marked their highest total score from four judges behind the table. They went on to win their dance-off against Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach to score three bonus points, but sadly it wasn't enough to save them for another week.
Dancing With the Stars airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Disney+.
