After discovering their friend Matt (Tom Bateman) is a killer known as the Westside Ripper in Season 1, they made a deal to keep his secret if he stops killing and anonymously shares his story on their true crime podcast.

Season 2 sees Ava’s sister Tory (Liana Liberato) announcing her engagement to Matt, whom she says is “actively taking steps to change” from his homicidal ways.

“I was sick, but I am healing,” Matt assures Nathan.

But with a new string of murders connected to the Westside Ripper, Ava and Nathan become obsessed with finding out if their future brother-in-law is behind the slayings. Meanwhile, Matt denies any responsibility for the crimes.

“If you’re not killing these people, then who is?” Ava asks him during a botched stakeout, to which Matt responds, “That’s what I want to know.”

The case finds them infiltrating an underground sex club, deciphering a Zodiac-esque code and scaling the side of a building to get into a crime scene.

In what showrunner Annie Weisman calls a “surprising new role,” the first trailer for Season 2 also reveals Melissa Fumero as Drew, a new mommy friend who provides a distraction from the case for Ava.

Weisman, Cuoco and Messina serve as executive producers on Season 2, along with creator Craig Rosenberg, Jaclyn Moore, Alex Buono and Aggregate Films’ Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan.
