‘Bates Motel’ Recreates Iconic ‘Psycho’ Shower Scene With a Little Help From Rihanna

Rihanna guest starred on the “Marion” episode of Bates Motel. The singer played Marion Crane, who checked into the Bates Motel in the previous episode.

If the name Marion Crane sounds familiar, it’s because that’s the name of the original victim in Psycho, which the show is based on. But in the television version, Marion drives a Miata instead of a ’57 Ford 300. Oh, and she also doesn’t get stabbed in the shower.

But don’t worry, someone does get stabbed in the shower, and the scene is shot as an homage to the original version. This time, Norman Bates stabs Sam, because he broke Marion’s heart.

Sam was played by Austin Nichols, who played Spencer from The Walking Dead — where he was stabbed to death this season by the show’s villain Negan.
