‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’: 2 New TV Spots Promote Gotham City, Metropolis & Turkish Airlines
We’re still a month and a half away from the March 25 premiere of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Warner Bros isn’t slowing down the film’s heavy marketing push for one second. Two new TV spots for the Zach Snyder-directed film just premiered after the end of Super Bowl 50, and they’re very, very meta. Created as part of a cross-promotional deal with Turkish Airlines, the trailers are designed as tourism board promos for Gotham City and Metropolis, with each city’s most famous and successful business figure urging people to visit. Watch the Gotham City spot above and Metropolis here:
Metropolis, naturally, is recovering from the damage done to it during the events of Man of Steel. Gotham, obviously, is just a hell hole. Either way, they’re effective tidbits of worldbuilding that for once inject a sense of humor into a Batman V Superman campaign that, so far, has been a very serious grimdark affair.

Picking up where 2013’s Man of Steel left off, Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice sees Bruce Wayne — until now operating secretly as Batman and considered an urban legend — among those who thinks Superman plans to put himself in control of Earth. As he sets about finding a way to take Superman down, events are being manipulated behind the scenes by upstart techbro billionaire Lex Luthor as other superpowered people emerge from the shadows. Henry Cavill stars as Clark Kent/Superman, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Batman’s butler/armorer Alfred, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Daily Planet editor Perry White, Diane Lane as Superman’s mom Martha Kent and Holly Hunter as U.S. Senator Finch.

Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice is the official start of Warner Bros’ DC Extended Universe of films featuring the A-List of DC superheroes starring in their own adventures and occasionally crossing over, similar to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fittingly, it will see Gal Gadot’s introduction as Wonder Woman in a supporting role, with other DC heroes showing up for cameos, including Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Ray Fisher as Cyborg, along with Tao Okamoto as Lex Luthor’s bodyguard Mercy Graves.
