‘The Bear’ Breaks Comedy Series Record With 23 Emmy Nominations

The Bear broke a record with its whopping 23 Emmy nominations for Season 2 on Wednesday.

The FX series now holds the most nominations ever by a comedy series for its sophomore season. The previous record was 30 Rock with 22 — which had been held by the NBC series since 2009.

The Bear received another nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series, and series leads Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri also picked up acting nominations again.

“Fishes” was the standout episode of the season, racking up three guest actor nods for Jamie Lee Curtis, Bob Odenkirk and Jon Bernthal, as well as a directing nod for the show’s creator Christopher Storer. The episode also managed several crafts nominations.

Episode 4, titled “Honeydew” also received quite a bit of love, with an Outstanding Supporting Actor nomination for Lionel Boyce, who leads the episode that follows his character Marcus as he trains to be a pastry chef. The episode also picked up a nod for guest actor Will Poulter, as well as director Ramy Youssef.
